Procedure for DGNB certification

Guide to DGNB certification: Sustainable building with ESG verification and QNG criteria.

Our comprehensive preparation for DGNB certification begins with an initial assessment of the project’s qualities by our accredited DGNB auditors.

Together, we lay the foundations for a sustainable construction project that takes ecological, economic and social sustainability standards into account.

The preparation phase includes a thorough initial assessment of the project by clarifying project-specific issues to ensure that all requirements for certification are met, including ESG criteria and QNG qualities.

This step forms a solid basis for a transparent and goal-oriented project application that sets the course for successful certification.

During pre-certification, the project requirements are defined in detail in close consultation with your project team.

This strategic phase is used to develop a specification sheet that serves as a guideline for all further steps in the certification process.

Once the corresponding certification contracts have been signed, the pre-certificate is submitted, which represents an initial confirmation of the sustainability efforts.

This is followed by a plausibility check by the DGNB certification body, which carries out an in-depth evaluation of the documents and evidence submitted to ensure compliance with the DGNB criteria.

The final certification phase is characterized by continuous monitoring and verification.

Our DGNB auditors support you in providing the necessary evidence for the ecological, economic and socio-cultural performance of your project.

The holistic assessment of the project includes the site analysis as well as the technical and procedural quality in order to guarantee comprehensive sustainability in the life cycle of the building.

Upon successful completion of the assessment process, the prestigious DGNB certificate is awarded, which officially recognizes your commitment to sustainable construction and offers you advantages in the area of sustainable finance.

The certificates for fulfilling the QNG qualities and the ESG verification are also awarded in this step.

The advantages of early advice

Targeted project definition and strategy development

The involvement of a DGNB auditor at an early stage enables a precise definition of objectives and the development of a comprehensive strategy for the sustainability of the project. This includes selecting the appropriate DGNB system variant and determining the award level to be achieved. By setting the course at an early stage, projects can be planned and implemented in a targeted manner, laying the foundation for successful certification.

Early planning helps to identify challenges and requirements in advance and develop appropriate solutions. This reduces the risk of project delays and can lead to considerable cost and resource savings. In addition, the early integration of sustainability aspects enables a more efficient design of the construction project, for example by selecting materials and technologies that meet the DGNB criteria and offer long-term ecological and economic benefits.

The early definition of sustainability goals and requirements promotes communication and cooperation between all project participants. A detailed specification serves as a central coordination tool that defines clear requirements and responsibilities. This not only improves transparency throughout the project, but also the accountability of individual stakeholders, which increases the overall quality and sustainability of the project
